Classrooms
Acoustic lining, daylight, escape width and a snow load on a low roof are typical review items. Occupant load comes from the education brief.
A modular office, a classroom and a clinic can leave the same jig and still face different wind, fire, acoustic and accessibility rules. This page lists the questions that change with use. It does not grant a classification.
Icons mark the file that usually grows, not a product that is already approved for that use. If your use is absent, send the occupancy description with the inquiry.
The table compares decision points. It is not a substitute for the calculation. Foam cores and mineral wool are both legitimate; the fire strategy decides which file is acceptable. Volumetric modules finish more work in the factory and constrain transport. Panelized systems pack denser and leave more quality control on site.
| Decision | Education and training | Healthcare support | Industrial site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Structural basis | Wind, snow and a crowd load on the floor. Seismic design category if the jurisdiction uses one. | Same climate loads, plus equipment point loads named by the clinician. | Wind on an exposed yard, anchorage to a temporary or permanent pad, crane radius for the lift. |
| Envelope | U-value target and acoustic performance. Thermal bridges at the window and floor are drawn. | Cleanable linings. Core choice (EPS, PIR or rock wool) follows the campus fire strategy, not a single panel label. | Coating mass and colour maintenance. Compare galvanized light-gauge members with painted frames using the project corrosion category and maintenance plan. |
| Fire file | Escape, lining and any required minutes for the wall system, including joints and doors. | Minutes and compartment lines taken from the hospital report. A sandwich-panel coupon is not the wall. | Distance to the portal-frame hall and whether the module is temporary classification or permanent. |
| MEP limit | Lighting, small power and a heating or cooling interface. | Plumbing and HVAC to a marked point. Medical gases only if the sleeve drawing exists. | Often a distribution board only. Welfare water and waste are a separate line. |
| Transport | Volumetric boxes when the road and the crane allow. Otherwise panelized cassettes. | Usually volumetric so wet areas can be tested before shipping. | Container loading plan for 40HQ when the road to site is the constraint. |
For a portal-frame hall, specify the clear span between supports. For a modular room, ask for the internal width after finishes and the opening available where modules join. If the brief is a steel warehouse or hangar, say so. The modular desk will not relabel a room as a clear-span building.
Welded volumetric frames travel as a box. Bolted frames travel flatter and need a site crew that can follow a sequence. The sector does not choose this by taste. The road, the port and the crane do.
Send the use, the country and the loads you already hold. The desk will say which rows of the table apply and which rows need a local consultant.
